Commodore Barry Memorial Fund

July 2012 - Commodore Barry Memorial Fund
DRYC was involved with a project to raise funds to have a memorial statue and entrance gate built and commemorated to honor Adm. John Barry, first commissioned officer of the U.S. Navy and notably known as the "Father of the U.S. Navy".  The event took place on July 22 and included members of DRYC as well as Directors of the Glenn Feord Museum located adjacent to DRYC.  The project was begun by the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America and is being carried out currently by a loyal Irishman, Tom McGrath, who is running to generate financial support, from New York City to the USNA, Annapolis, MD, where the memorial will be located.  For more information and/or to contribute to this project, please visit www.barryrun.com.
